St John’s is a fully co-educational Boarding and Day independent school in the beautiful South West. It caters for boys and girls from the age of two to sixteen years of age. The Head is a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools and is supported by a committed and well-qualified staff.

The school is housed in substantial, well-designed buildings with a delightful chapel at its heart and lovely green spaces for the students to grow and play.
The long history of St John’s underpins its tradition as a centre of educational excellence. The governors and management are well in tune with the educational needs of the younger generation and ensure that there are excellent facilities to promote this learning, constantly striving to be at the cutting edge of learning in the 21st century.
A Home from Home
St John’s has a distinct family feel to it. The high degree of trust and respect contribute to the work ethos. There are high expectations and visitors remark on the enthusiastic attitudes of staff and students both towards the academic work as well as towards the many out-of-school activities.
The care and attention to the child as an individual begins before they join the school, they are all invited to spend some time at the school prior to their term of entry. It has been known for a child to be tearful only when it was time to go Home, but all children are different and early familiarisation and a gradual transition is usually advisable where circumstances permit. In most classes a pupil ‘guardian’ is chosen to look after a newcomer in the early weeks of term to help resolve any concerns encountered in their new surroundings.
