Within the Nursery Department we strive to provide an environment where children are able to explore, question, investigate, create and imagine. Our children are encouraged to learn through play and exploration, using both the classroom and the unrivaled grounds of the School wherever possible.The children are also given opportunities to begin making their own choices and to interact with their peers in a variety of situations.
The cornerstone of our work is "Every Child Matters" and we endeavour to educate our children to:

Our curriculum follows the programme set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which strongly promotes a "play based" curriculum. This allows the children to develop as individuals, learn through enquiry and foster positive relationships with their young peers.
The Nursery Department is fortunate that we can enjoy the excellent facilities (including a new Nursery playground) in our own special area of the School and also benefits from the full range of other facilities of the main School itself.
As well as a package of comprehensive care throughout the day, the children also receive a mid-morning snack, a healthy lunch and a light tea in the afternoon.
Nursery sessions are offered between 8.30 or 9.00am - 12.00pm (half day) or until 3.30pm (full day). The School accepts the government vouchers, which entitles children 15 hours per week pre-school sessions effective from the term after the child's third birthday.
St.John´s Nursery is OFSTED registered and is also subject to Independent School Inspections on a regular basis.
After School Provision:
After School care is available to all children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. A light tea is provided and a wide range of activities are arranged to extend the children's learning into the early evening.
We also offer holiday care and we are open fifty-one weeks of the year, excluding Bank Holidays. We are closed the week between Christmas and the New Year.
Parents are always invited to come and see the facilities on offer and children can come for a "taster day" before joining the Nursery at any point during the year.
